Júlia Florit-Pons

About Me

Júlia Florit-Pons is a third-year PhD student at the Department of Translation and Language Sciences at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Catalonia), carrying out her research under the supervision of Dr. Pilar Prieto (ICREA/UPF) and Dr. Alfonso Igualada (UOC). Her research focuses on the role that multimodality plays in the language development of typically developing (TD) children and of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Specifically, she works on a) designing and validating an inclusive intervention program to analyze how multimodality can boost narrative and pragmatic abilities of TD, ASD and DLD children, and b) examining how multimodality and linguistic skills relate to each other in these populations.

She is also a teacher at the Department of Translation and Language Sciences at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where she teaches Phonetics and Phonology, Linguistics and Catalan Language; and at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sicences at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, where she teaches Language Acquisition (B.A. in Speech-Language Therapy) and supervises M.A. theses (M.A. in Learning Difficulties and Language Disorders).
